OpenAI raises $110B in one of the largest private funding rounds in history

What Happened

The new funding consists of a $50 billion investment from Amazon as well as $30 billion each from Nvidia and SoftBank, against a $730 billion valuation.

Our Take

This is wild but not surprising. $110B private valuation is... honestly, I can't evaluate this. Is it crazy? Sure. But OpenAI's shipping products, enterprises are paying, and investors have FOMO. Amazon, Nvidia, SoftBank—these aren't dumb money.

That said, at $730B valuation you're betting on a multi-hundred-billion-dollar market AND on OpenAI staying dominant (lol). The play isn't 'is this valuation rational'—it's 'can OpenAI keep executing faster than everyone else'. So far, yeah. But valuations are just feelings made official.

What To Do

For agencies, focus on shipping products with OpenAI today, not betting on them forever—market's moving fast.

What Skeptics Say

Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank all have strategic rather than purely financial motivations for investing, inflating the round's signal value; a $730B valuation requires capturing a market share that doesn't yet exist at that scale.
