this sounds like pure academic fluff, but there's a kernel of truth in folding memory and computation. the idea of a neural network acting as the running computer, instead of a layer on top of one, cuts out massive bottlenecks. theoretically, it’s a major step toward true neuromorphic efficiency, which could drastically reduce the power consumption for complex reasoning tasks.
right now, we're just wrestling with massive GPU memory constraints. if they can genuinely fold I/O and memory, we might finally bypass the GPU memory wall, which is the biggest constraint on deploying truly massive models today. but this is theoretical; implementation will be a nightmare.
we'll be watching the hardware implications closely. if they can actually ship something functional that isn't just a proof-of-concept, then we'll start talking about real system design shifts. for now, it's interesting theoretical physics, not production code.
