AI startup Rocket offers vibe McKinsey-style reports at a fraction of the cost

Read the full articleAI startup Rocket offers vibe McKinsey-style reports at a fraction of the cost on TechCrunch

What Happened

Rocket's new AI platform combines strategy, product building, and competitive intelligence, aiming to move beyond code generation.

Our Take

Commoditizing consulting doesn't make you a business. Yeah, Rocket's playing the angle — "McKinsey output at 1/10th the price." Cool. Except cheap reports are a race to the bottom. Who actually wants AI-generated strategy instead of human strategy? Nobody, really. They want it because consultants are expensive.

Rocket gets undercut by someone else's cheaper LLM wrapper next quarter. This isn't a product, it's a feature with a price tag.

What To Do

If you're in consulting, don't panic. Your client relationships are your moat, not the org charts you generate.

Builder's Brief

Who

product and strategy teams at startups and growth-stage companies

What changes

Competitive intelligence and strategic framing docs become faster and cheaper to produce, raising the floor on documentation quality but not decision quality

When

now

Watch for

A named enterprise or mid-market company publicly replacing a management consulting retainer with an AI strategy tool

What Skeptics Say

Cheap strategy reports commoditize the deliverable without commoditizing judgment; clients who cannot evaluate strategy quality will consume confident-sounding mediocrity, and those who can will still pay for humans.

"vibe McKinsey" is genuinely the funniest product description I've seen this year
