A roadmap for AI, if anyone will listen

What Happened

The Pro-Human AI Declaration was finalized before last week's Pentagon-Anthropic standoff, but the collision of the two events wasn’t lost on anyone involved.

Our Take

Timing is killer. This dies in the news cycle.

The Pro-Human AI Declaration probably says sensible things (transparency, accountability, don't build extinction machines). But it lands the same week the Pentagon and Anthropic are in legal war. Bad timing is a strategic loss. Nobody's listening.

Declarations move too slow anyway. We need policy, not pledges. Pledges are just PR cover for companies that ignore them when convenient.

It's theater masquerading as action.

What To Do

Show enforcement mechanisms or stop writing declarations—otherwise you're giving lawyers ammunition to claim good faith later.

Builder's Brief

What changes

What Skeptics Say

The declaration's timing alongside the Anthropic-DoD standoff makes it look reactive rather than principled — and non-binding AI declarations have a near-zero track record of measurably influencing development trajectories.
