Financial Compliance Monitor
Automated regulatory tracking that maps obligations before deadlines hit.

The problem
being solved
A regional bank operating across three states faces thousands of rule changes per year from federal (OCC, FDIC, CFPB, FinCEN) and state regulators. The compliance team manually monitors Federal Register publications, state bulletins, and industry guidance — then maps each change to existing policies and procedures.
AscentAI demonstrated that AI can extract individual obligations from regulatory text and map them to a firm's compliance inventory in minutes — ING and CommBank used it to generate MiFID II obligations in 2.5 minutes versus 1,800 hours manually. Behavox (named to RegTech100 2026) showed unified compliance monitoring can run on a single AI-powered stack. But these platforms price for global banks, not community banks.
The real risk is the amendment buried in a 200-page Federal Register notice that changes a reporting deadline. Missing it means enforcement action and consent orders.
How this
agent works
This agent continuously monitors regulatory sources — Federal Register, state banking department publications, CFPB bulletins, FinCEN advisories. When a new rule or amendment is published, it uses NLP to extract specific obligations, affected entities, compliance deadlines, and required actions.
It maps each obligation against your compliance inventory — policies, procedures, and control documentation. Where a new rule affects an existing policy, it generates a change impact assessment: what needs updating, by when, and which business unit owns the control. Net-new obligations are flagged as gaps requiring policy development.
Your team gets a prioritized weekly digest: critical (near-term deadlines), significant (amendments to existing obligations), and informational (guidance). Each item includes source text, extracted obligations, mapped controls, and recommended actions with a complete audit trail.
Built on Python with FastAPI and Celery for asynchronous feed processing, backed by Elasticsearch for full-text regulatory document indexing and PostgreSQL for obligation tracking. Claude handles natural language extraction from dense regulatory text — pulling out effective dates, affected charter types, and specific obligations. Redis manages job queues and rate-limited ingestion from regulatory sources. Setup takes 3-4 weeks: your compliance inventory is ingested, jurisdiction coverage is scoped, and obligation mapping is calibrated to your charter type before handoff.
- 01
Multi-Source Regulatory Feed Ingestion
Monitors the Federal Register, CFPB, FinCEN, OCC, FDIC, and state-level regulators via structured feeds and HTML scraping. New rules and amendments are indexed within 24 hours of publication, including interim final rules and advance notices of proposed rulemaking.
- 02
Obligation Extraction and Policy Mapping
Claude extracts specific obligations from regulatory text — effective dates, applicable entity types, prohibited conduct, required disclosures. Each obligation is matched against your existing policy and control inventory to surface gaps and affected procedures.
- 03
Deadline-Anchored Impact Assessment
For each regulatory change, the agent generates a structured impact record: which policies need updating, which business units own remediation, and what the compliance deadline is. Prioritization is driven by deadline proximity and your institution's risk classification.
- 04
Examination-Ready Audit Trail
Every detection, assessment, and remediation step is logged with timestamps and source citations. The agent generates board-committee summaries and examination-ready reports in structured formats — no manual compilation before your next regulatory review.
